Plot Overview

The story unfolds over the course of a single elevator ride as Will descends from the eighth floor of his apartment building, armed with a gun that belonged to his deceased brother, Shawn. After witnessing Shawn's murder, Will is determined to follow the "Rules" of his neighborhood: no crying, no snitching, and always seek revenge. He believes that the person responsible for his brother's death is Carlton Riggs, a former friend turned gang member.
As the elevator descends, Will is visited by a series of ghosts from his past, each representing individuals affected by gun violence. These encounters force him to confront the implications of his desire for revenge and the cycle of violence that plagues his community. The ghosts include Buck, Shawn's mentor; Dani, Will's childhood crush who died in a drive by shooting; and Uncle Mark, who challenges Will's understanding of masculinity and the consequences of his actions.
